RUNWAY PLAYA VISTA
ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGAM
As part of a multi-year, multi-million dollar redevelopment of ​the mixed use outdoor development, Runway Playa Vista retained ArtxCo to activate vacant retail spaces with art programming.

This culminated in rotating artist-in-residence programs. Each rotation, a selected artist took over a vacant retail space as a "blank canvas." For the first month, it functioned as an open artist studio, allowing the passersby to have a behind-the-scenes experience in their community. During the second month, the studio transformed into an actual exhibit, showcasing the pieces produced on site. For the locals and visitors, the artist residencies became a highlight of the community; for the client, they served to bring buzz and interest, quickly leading to successfully secured leases of the vacant spaces by new tenants.
